If you buy this book for your child, you should buy two copies: one for him/her to look at and "love," and the other to keep in good condition for later years! My daughter and I love this book. Every page has beautifully painted illustrations by David Haidle of different parts of God's creation with children of various cultures enjoying it. The rhyme and rhythm are pleasing and easy to remember, so the pre-reading child can look at the pictures and recall the words. "Like waterfalls ripple down the steep mountainside, God's love overflows to the world far and wide." It is a good night-time story, with the little boy going to sleep at the end, and includes the Gospel message after the story, so it's a good gift also. The one caution I have is the one page which says, "God's love wraps around you and guards you from harm, just like Daddy holds you all snug in his arms." Some children may not have a daddy who holds them safely in his arms.
This book is a reminder to me of how great God's love is, beyond all we can imagine. I'm so glad we have it (but I wish it was a board book!). (*Note: it does come in board book form too!)
